Mucosal immunology has become an area of great interest, since the latest findings say about the role of microbiota and dietary components not only about the inflammatory bowel diseases, but also in systemic diseases such as diabetes, allergies, autoimmune and chronic degenerative diseases. This workshop will address many of these issues and will provide a forum for discussion with well-known experts on various aspects of the immune response in lymphoid tissue associated with mucous membranes, effects of probiotics and components of the diet in diseases and infections of the mucous membranes, inflammatory diseases mucous membranes, immune-regulatory effects of oral tolerance and of compounds produced by intestinal microbiota.
